FPGAs are an important platform for circuit implementation and computing research. To take advantage of these devices requires a set of CAD tools to transform descriptions of needed functionality into mapped, placed, and routed circuits on the FPGA hardware. The fpgaCAD project aims to document how researchers, educators, and students can use freely-available CAD tools together to form full FPGA CAD flows, improving accessibility of FPGA-related research and education. There are two major categories of flows documented on this site: (1) compilation of circuits to reconfigurable hardware, and (2) synthesis of high-level language constructs to microprocessors embedded in reconfigurable fabrics. Download, installation, and usage information is presented for each tool. Example results are provided in most cases. This site is a work-in-progress; if you have suggestions for additional flows, or corrections to existing ones, please visit the Contact page and let us know!
